The BRIDGES Steering Committee is responsible for the strategic coordination, scientific alignment, and long-term development of the project. It ensures that BRIDGES achieves its objectives of establishing a sustainable German-Brazilian research network in the fields of solar energy, electromobility, second-life batteries, and green hydrogen, including the development of a joint research and innovation laboratory.
The Steering Committee oversees the overall project implementation, monitors progress against scientific and organizational goals, and ensures alignment with funding requirements and international research standards. It also supports decision-making related to research priorities, network expansion, joint project development, and the long-term sustainability of BRIDGES beyond the funding period.
Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI)
As the coordinating institution on the German side, Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt plays a central role in the strategic and scientific leadership of BRIDGES. THI contributes with expertise in energy systems modeling, hydrogen technologies, energy storage, and electromobility through its Institute of New Energy Systems. Within the Steering Committee, THI is responsible for overall project coordination, alignment with BMBF requirements, development of joint research structures, and the integration of research activities into the BRIDGES laboratory framework. THI also supports international mobility, knowledge transfer, and the preparation of joint research proposals.
University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE)
The University of Duisburg-Essen contributes strong expertise in energy research, systems analysis, and interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable energy technologies. Within the Steering Committee, UDE contributes to scientific quality assurance and strengthens the academic depth of BRIDGES research activities. UDE has a part in improving collaboration between German and Brazilian partners, supporting joint publications, and contributing to the international visibility and scientific impact of the network.
Fotovoltaica UFSC
Fotovoltaica UFSC represents a key partner on the Brazilian side of BRIDGES, bringing internationally recognized expertise in photovoltaic systems, energy storage, second-life batteries, electric mobility, and green hydrogen. UFSC plays a central role in coordinating Brazilian research activities, supporting the implementation of experimental and applied research, and linking BRIDGES to Brazilian universities, research centers, and industry partners. Within the Steering Committee, Fotovoltaica UFSC supports bilateral coordination, applied research development, and the integration of Brazilian research infrastructure into the BRIDGES network.
